We provide Day Support Services from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday in eight centres across Trafford:

  • Monday at in Stetford at Clyne Court
  • Wednesday and Friday in Timperley at Newbury Court
  • Tuesday at Heightside in Timperley
  • Tuesday in Urmston at Ormeston Lodge
  • Wednesday at Waterside in Flixton
  • Thursday in Altrincham at Lyngarth Court
  • Friday at Marfield Court, Flixton
  • Monday to Sunday at Harry Lord Resource Centre, Old Trafford.

Our day support provision is mainly for people over 50 who are frail, isolated and often with dementia related illnesses.

We provide Day Support, which aims to meet the care needs of older people by:

  • Maintaining and encouraging their independence
  • Providing an opportunity for social interaction with their peers
  • Enhancing self confidence and well being
  • Promoting physical and intellectual stimulation
  • retaining and encouraging life skills

And which is provided in an environment which is both flexible and informal.

We provide our small unit day support for dementia related illness on a local basis, close to their home and in accessible buildings - usually lounges in sheltered housing schemes, where we concentrate on groups of no more than eight people so that we are able to give high quality one to one support and a respite break for carers.  These units run five days a week.

We also provide a larger Day Support facility  in Old Trafford at Harry Lord Resource Centre where groups of up 30 older people a day are supported to maintain their independence.  This Centre runs seven days a week.

We have provided day support in Trafford for over 18 years.

At all our centres we offer different forms of activities to promote mental and physical stimulation and well being. These activities range from puzzles, quizzes, indoor bowls, photography, short golf, darts and board games, to different forms of reminiscence, gardening, hand massages, manicures and armchair aerobics, simple cookery and life skills. During summer outdoor activities such as crazy golf, garden darts, and bowls are used. Because we find most people respond well to music we also use music, singing and movement in many different forms.

The feedback we have received from carers, health professionals and social workers has been very positive and all of our clients have shown a marked improvement in their general demeanour and motivation for life since they joined our day care services and, of equal importance, all of their carers are provided with much needed respite breaks.

All Places in our Day Support are allocated in agreement with Trafford Social Services following a referral on an interagency care plan under FACS criteria of substantial or critical.
