Older People offered free help to cut fuel bills

Age Concern Trafford has joined force with one of the UK's leading integrated power and gas companies - to help older people become more energy efficient.  Older people in Trafford are being encouraged to take advantage of a new service designed to help them use energy at home more efficiently.

The EnergyRight service has been launched by Age Concern and E.ON.UK - the new name for Powergen.  The initiative has been se up to provide face-to-face information and practical assistance to help older people understand and control heir energy usage.  Trained staff and volunteers will carry out individual home energy checks within Trafford, identifying on the spot easy steps older resident can take to boost their energy efficiency.

After the home visit, residents can also be referred for a benefit entitlement check to ensure that they are receiving all the government benefits to which they are entitled, to handyperson schemes for practical assistance, and to other organisations which may be able to offer financial assistance for energy measures.  The EnergyRight scheme includes:
