The Right Choice - Choosing a Care Home in Trafford

Making the decision to give up your home and move into a care home is very difficult. What is important is that it is a positive experience and seen as a way forward and another chapter in someone’s life.

Not all care homes are the same. Each one has its own range of fees, facilities and services on offer to you. Spending some time to consider your options will help you to choose the right one for you.

How can Age Concern Trafford Help You?

Age Concern Trafford can offer an independent support and information service to older people or their relatives / carers who require assistance in finding a suitable care home place via our Support Broker Service. Our service is independent, impartial, confidential and free.

We can provide the following support and information:

 · A free useful information pack

· Written information on local care homes.  We hold information on the services, facilities and fees at all care homes in Trafford.

· Individual support and guidance with the decision making process.  We will explain the choices you have and help you to make your own decisions.

· Access to current inspection reports.  The Care Quality Commission inspects all care homes on a regular basis.  This is to make sure standards are being met.  Age Concern

Trafford has copies of the reports on each home in the Borough of Trafford for you to view.

· We can explain the financial implications of moving into a care home and point you in the right direction to find out if you are claiming all the benefits you will be entitled to.

· A full range of in-depth fact sheets for you to take home with you which deal with specific issues which may affect you when moving into care.

· Accompanied visits to local homes if appropriate

· Co-ordination of suitable transport for visits to local homes, if needed

· Provide you with a list of current vacancies available in the Trafford area.
